Bye Bye Leura

The following from Karl in Mudgee, who is keeping us updated on the battle down that way (see here and here for details).

"Believe it or not, Leura, beautiful, quaint, lovely Leura in the NSW Blue Mountains has a new shopping centre development on the way. Council opposed it, LAE court gave it back to the developer and now that lovely little town in the mountains has lost. 

Historic Bathurst in the Central Ranges, already reeling under a number of centres and corporate giants (including Stockland) is facing ANOTHER bloody shopping centre development.  It will be very interesting to see if Stockland are supportive of any moves to oppose the new development."

Ahh, it's troubling times. I know the beautiful little town of Leura - at least I remember what it used to be...we may have some (good) news from Mudgee soon - stay tuned.
